Kalathos is related with the ancient municipality of Lindia, Klasii. At the ruins of Saint John, rocks that belonged to an ancient olive press were found.
At the village there is the beautifull bay of Vliha (the ancient Thermidro) which attracts many visitors during the summer.
The area during the middle ages was used for farming and rangeland of Lindos. Ancient research revealed a roman altar.
Worth visiting is also the Saint Mary's church which is digged in the rock, and holds wall paintings of the 12th century.
